My Next Big Task – Updating my Ecommerce Website

I got a big task ahead of me, so on my Ecommerce website, which is a website that sells products, there are over 100 products that people can buy, and I am continuously adding products. I have the task of having to update every single product. And it can take a lot of time to update just one product. If you run a blog, then you’ll know how much time it can take to create or edit a single page/post.

What I have to do is add in new options for every single product. Right now, (on my site) you can’t really add items to one another without having to pay an additional delivery fee and there are some locations that are not included. But now, we have been able to figure out how to offer lower shipping/delivery fees and can deliver to other parts of Korea. And I want to make these options available to our customers. You see, whenever someone wanted to make a purchase of various items or for deliveries to places that were not listed on the website but relatively within delivery distance to us, I sometimes had to manually create and email them an invoice. I truly enjoy helping my customers, but it can save the customer and me a lot of time if I could find a way to automate that service. If I am able to complete my update, then it will help save the customer (and even me) a lot of time and money.

And the crazy thing is that I knew I could have somehow found a way to combine items and lower delivery fees, but I was just content with how things were. I wasn’t hungry to find ways to increase my sales because I secretly knew that it would take me a lot of time to do it. But after having a talk with my wife and after giving it much thought, I knew it was time to take action. So now, I’m in the process of updating each product on flowergiftkorea.com

Before I continue, let’s just talk a little bit about the technical aspects of my website(s). My Ecommerce website is a WordPress website, just like the website you are on right now. WordPress is the platform that I use to build what my websites look like. There are other platforms like Magento, and others that I can’t think of at the moment. But WordPress is what I use for all of my websites because it’s just what I am used to using. I learned that I could purchase themes, which are website structure/layouts that you can change/edit. This website is using a blog style theme, actually, this theme is supposed to be a “News” theme. And it is actually quite easy to create a website these days because anyone can purchase a theme and it isn’t that hard to learn how to create a simple website. It is possible to learn how to do almost anything through youtube videos and self-help books and websites these days.

Creating and building websites is one my hobbies. I truly love the creating and building aspect of websites and businesses. But I am not enthusiastic about the adjusting and editing part. Paying attention to minor details is just not part of my personality. I mean, I’m very sensitive to the needs of the customer, but figuring out what font or color would look best on a web page is not something that I will give serious thought.

So I got this big task ahead of me and I think I am finding ways to put the task off. One final conflict I have is whether it’s better for me to exercise before going to my flower shop or using that time to get a head start of updating my Ecommerce website. I know deep down that it is better to get the exercise, which will make me more productive throughout the day, but it is sometimes easy to give yourself excuses to take the easy way out.

Luckily my shop does not need to be open until 10am and my gym is close by, so I still have time to exercise before going to the flower market, and then heading to my flower shop. What is your current big task? Do you have one? I know that I didn’t the last week and I think it was because I was just making excuses for myself because I didn’t want to put in the work. Well, time for me to publish this post and head to the gym. What are you doing right now to further your business or to get you one step closer to achieving your end goal?
