So here is my review for the month of July, 2017

  • July Goals Results

1. Really figure out Amazon: I still haven’t uploaded any products to Amazon, but I am waiting to hear back from Amazon handmade, which is the section that allows for handmade objects to be sold on Amazon. I have applied and I should be hearing back within a few days. So Flower Gift Korea may or may not be accepted as a seller on the Amazon handmade platform.

2. Upload the maximum products I’m allowed on Ebay: I uploaded 5 more products to Ebay. They do get some views from potential buyers, but Ebay really isn’t my thing, but it’s something. And something is better than nothing, at least that’s what I believe.

3. Email every single past/present customer about changes made with Flower Gift Korea: We sent our very first annual update email to every single customer we had on file. We of course do not have every single customer’s email, but we were able to send emails to hundreds of current Flower Gift Korea customers. We have made things a little more convenient at Flower Gift Korea, and we wanted to share what those changes were. No one has complained yet about the email, and even 3 different people replied and thanked me for the update.

4. Create my Kpop website idea: I have created the website for my Kpop audience and have already been sharing links with some of my customers. It’s still far from finished. I just add content to it whenever I can. It might take at least a month or two to have a somewhat decent website. I will of course have to continuously update the website, but I need to get the website “good enough” within the next month or so.

5. Reach $10,000 US in sales (Pass Minimum $5,000 US): The month of July was off to a great start, so we thought we were going to easily reach our sales goal. But sales started to slow down as the month progressed. We still had a decent month, but we didn’t reach our goal. We passed our minimum earlier than usual, especially in a month without any special days, so I am very thankful for this. It is a blessing to make sales, especially since most of our orders come in while we are asleep! But it can be scary at times because we technically can make 0 sales in a month. But we’ve worked very hard to create a brand that people all around the world can trust. But we have to continue to put more things in place to really grow our Flower business and brand.

6. Learn more. Really read Tools of Titans and emulate successful business people’s habits: If I were to be brutally honest, I did not read enough this month. However, I did listen to an audio book. It’s called, “Be Obsessed or Be Average” by Grand Cardone. It was an inspiring book and it was the first Grant Cardone book I have ever heard/read. He is pretty intense and passionate. I agree with some things he says and disagree with others, but one thing is certain, I have to really work hard and be obsessed with reaching my goals for them to actually become a reality. So it was a good wake up call. I still read parts of Tools of Titans, so that’s good.

  • Finished Our Taxes for Jan-June 2017

My wife and I have finished our VAT tax report for Flower Gift Korea for the previous period (Jan-June 2017). It wasn’t too much work, but it was stressful for a few days here and there. But we now know how to do our taxes more efficiently. We will have to pay another VAT tax for July-December 2017 in Janauary 2018, but we now have a much better system, so it’ll be a lot easier the second time around. We’re basically going to complete the reports monthly, so that we only have to create one new report in January 2018 and then combine it with the other reports that were previously made. I share a little more about doing your taxes in Korea in a blog post I recently wrote, “Doing Your Taxes For Your Business in Korea

  • Other July News

I have been pretty consistent with my morning check-ins and things have been great. My morning check-ins have helped me keep focused and have been a joy to do in the mornings. I also recently went to a networking event in Seoul and plan on going to more networking events regularly for as long as possible.

  • Other Businesses and Projects

Hagwonstart.com is still there, and has great information, but nothing new for now. And I continue to create content for this website and it truly helps me to stay on task. I hope that EntrepreneurKorea.com will be helpful to other entrepreneurs in Korea and those thinking of becoming an entrepreneur in Korea.

  • Thoughts, Goals and The Big Picture for August 2017

So July was a pretty decent month. Sales were okay, considering there were no special days. But I can’t be content with what happened and must strive to achieve more. It was a little stressful doing our taxes, but things will be a lot easier when we do them again in January 2018. Well, here are my goals for August 2017:

  1. Go to at least 3-4 networking events and hand out at least 50 Flower Gift Korea business cards to 50 different people before the end of the month.
  2. Create pre-scheduled blog posts for FlowerGiftKorea.com and EntrepreneurKorea.com
  3. Make my Kpop website “Good Enough”
  4. Reach $10,000 US in sales
  5. Hold a 5 Star Raffle Prize draw for Flower Gift Korea Customers

I guess the big picture for this month is to network! I haven’t networked in awhile and it was a little challenging when I went to a networking event the other day. But in the end, everyone there is just as nervous or even more nervous than I was. So I was able to approach random people, start up conversations, and ended up giving different people my business card. I think at least 10 different English speaking people in Korea learned that Flower Gift Korea existed the other day, and the craziest thing is that I actually met someone who actually used Flower Gift Korea last year to send someone in Korea flowers when he was in Canada.

So I am on the hunt for networking events and will try to get ahead on my content creation work.

August must be a good month, and it will be good if I make it good! Good luck to you this August, and if you had a bad day or bad week, remember, today is a brand new day. Your day is what you make it, so let’s make it a good one!
